Miriam Burt
Ms. Burt has over 35 years experience in ESL teaching, program administration, teacher training, curriculum and assessment development, and program planning and evaluation. At CAL she has participated in a variety of projects that provide technical assistance in the form of trainings and research-to-practice publications to people, programs, and institutions working with adults learning English in the United States and overseas in refugee camps, community colleges, adult education programs, community-based organizations, universities, business schools, and workplaces.
Before coming to CAL, Ms. Burt directed a workforce program that provided English language, communication, and basic skills instruction as well as GED preparation for cafeteria workers. Prior to that, she worked with the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) in an overseas refugee processing center and then in Washington, DC. Ms. Burt has an MA in English as a Second Language from the University of Minnesota.
